I have been trying in vain to get hold of a spare battery (D-L190) for the K-7, here in Aust. I have been told it won't be available until mid sept

The price quoted for one was quite a shock 90 No wonder the price of the camera was so cheap here, they intend to make thier profit from the battery sales.

When the K10 was first released, the battery price (D-L150) was about 50, so what makes the K-7 battery so much better The only thing I can think of is the K-7 battery is a new design specifically for the K-7, while the K10/20 battery was an already available design, rebadged for Pentax.

You can already pick up Chinese 3rd party K-7 batteries on E-bay, if you want to risk it, for 10 + P&P, but I will steer clear of those for now.

I have ordered a K-7 battery from Chris at SRS, For 55 + P&P.

One thing I don't understand about the D-LI90 is that they no longer come with a protective plastic end-cap. Neither the one that comes with the K-7 nor the spare batteries do.

Just ordered the grip and a battery from Adorama. The "bay" has Chinese variants but I'll not risk it. Can't understand the pricing above? Bit like buying a printer for 20 quid but replacement inks are 25 quid a set!

I do use Adorama K10D batteries and they fit my Minolta 7D

Never any issue with them. Also use the Power 2000 chargers which are auto mains and 12VDC.

Hi Clarky,

I agree the price is very high, the SRS price is 60 (and its in stock) so you've saved some money by contacting them.

I have bought a second battery at that price; but with the grip also taking AA bateries I plan to hold out until someone like Hahnel (http:www.hahnel.ie) start to put out cheeper alternatives.
Good luck

While slightly off-topic my spare battery arrived today, 55 post free, from SRS and I find it ironic that while it took over 6 hours to charge the original battery, today the new spare only took 4 hours

When they told me the price of the battery I almost fell off my chair, I was too frightened to ask what the grip was going to retail for

Sorry all, I should have remembered this thread. Just posted a new thread on this topic. Anyway, paid 11.88 with free P&P from the bay for a K-7 battery. Works very well and is as per capacity on the lable as I have a capacity analyser that I use on my R/C batteries.

I bought an 8.50 spare battery for my GX20 a month or two ago. It's indistinguishable in performance from my 2 originals.

Funny enough, the only batteries I've ever heard of exploding were originals made by Sony. But I doubt camera makers make their own batteries anyway.
