K-7 ... or GX30

Now heres an interesting quandry ... a K-7 but with added extras.

- faster at 6fps
- built in GPS and Wi-Fi
- 3.0 AMOLED tilt and swivel screen
- double SD slots

If the Samsung is cheaper .. or even the same, which would you chooses if the rumour is correct.

Suprised me this, I thought the rumour was Samsung were not releasing a K7 competitor?

On the added features, I know Live View isn't highly regarded amongst the DSLR community but when I owned the "prosumer" Konica Minolta A200 I found it extremely useful, mainly for tripod work. The key to this feature was a moveable LCD screen, IMHO without this Live View is highly limited. Full marks to Samsung for making this move, double SD slots is a good idea too.

The main decider for most though will inevitably be price, it certainly could lose Pentax a few customers. Great news for the consumer though !!

Mobile phones have gps and wi-fi so it must be useful

Its an interesting rumour though, maybe Samsung have decided its time to take over Pentax now they have the K-mount and the obvious way would be to get all Pentax users switching and watching Hoya shut the brand.

Samsung would have all those Pentax users to themselves then.

Well a double card slot would be good. Built in GPS also. We shall have to wait and see I guess.

Luckily I can't afford a K7 anyway so I can sit back and wait.

No mention of being able to adjust back focus etc. for 20 lenses or whatever the K20D does.

Seems more like a GX20, rather than a K7, with added extras. Maybe Pentax will release a similar model to fill the rather large gap between the K-m and the K-7, and keep the traditional Pentax values of high end spec - but affordable - cameras alive!

possible there'll be a k30 from pentax at the same time? an upgraded k20, but lower specs than the k7?

Flip out screens worry me a little, I can see the benefit but they also add more fragility into the equation. And as Gwyn has said dual card slots would be a big plus.
The spec looks interesting even if it is pure speculation

My money is still with Pentax though

with the internet, rumours are now being used for marketing research...
it may be public reactions that determine if when and how that camera gets released...

the gx20 is the same as the k20d so i would expect the gx30 to do the same if not more,

Why would you need gps in a camera? WiFi maby for transferring pics (slowly!)
But GPS!?

Are we supposed to try to find our way round central London holding a camera out in front of us!?
Or will it just take us to known photography hotspots? Kind of like the POI on my sat nav!

About the only useful thing I can think of is tracking it if it gets robbed!
