I've used amazon.fr many times and the service is fine. They supplied my K-3. As with any lightning deals, they have limited stocks at the reduced price: once they're gone, that's it (although the offers are often repeated from time to time). I've seen some deals end within a minute or two of going live, while others remain open for several hours.

Seems to be a poor take up so far...90 mins left to go (finishes at 3pm UK time) but only 5% sold...presumably this will come up again then in a week or two.

I wonder why it's £55 cheaper from France than the UK.......
Both sold by Amazon........ Can't have anything to do with TAX

France has 20% VAT just as the UK does. The main reason it is cheaper is the low euro.

When ordering from Amazon.co.uk the invoice was adjusted to Dutch VAT (@21%) because I live in holland. That was useful for me but not the norm. However I thought that starting this year all EU companies now had to do that: charge the VAT appropriate for the recipient so I would assume you would get charged UK VAT on orders from Amazon.fr.

The price difference is indeed probably down to the recent depreciation of the euro caused by something something greece ecb bonds economics mubble jumble.

Edit: €570 is a great price for that camera and lens.

The are often huge differences in price between different Amazon sites. Same product:

UK 454 euros
FR 408 euros
DE 305 euros

I guess in part is due to the cheap euro as Gwyn says, but market conditions are very different and competition in Germany seems to be very strong.
