I'm very pleased they haven't dumped such a winning body design - VERY!

We'll see.
They repeated the K-7 as the K-5, so why not a K-5 II?
Makes perfect sense to me. Wouldn't be the first dSLR manufacturer to do so.

A K-5 MkII makes perfect sense. Pentax grabbed a lot of attention with the K-5 compared to previous DSLR models. The K-5 earned a reputation for being a great camera. Naming the successor K-5 mkII will give them a good starting point to build on that reputation.

IF there is any truth in this rumour it also suggests a significant expansion to the number of models in the range, but this is something Pentax have previously hinted at so not really a surprise. Presumably there will be a low end model below the K-30, then the K-5 mkII, then the even higher end (24mp?) K-3. A four model DSLR range for Pentax for the first time.

Personally I welcome this, I would be more likely to go for a K-5 mkII than a K-3, as I don't want or need 24mp.

They just pulled all the images! I wonder whether they've been hacked and it's all a fake, or perhaps they've just been told off for leaking the new images early!

I wouldn't be surprised if the K5 II is real, but I think after two years they need to bring out something better than a simple upgrade. I'd be surprised if there's nothing with the Sony 24MP sensor in it.

I'm beginning to think that Pentax should have used the 24MP sensor in the K30 - that would have been a shot across the bows of Canikon

IMO A Pentax K-5 II would make a lot of sense, the K5 is already a great camera. I think that it would also add to the value of the brand, as used K-5s would keep their value.

But then a K-3 with 24 MP would be quite near in market position.....

I am with Smeggy on this: Maybe they opted to keep an improved K-5 as a low-cost upgrade so they could invest in something else.....
