Why do samples never show a new product off very well
Can't say I am very impressed with the first one and gave up after that due to the download time

two things jump out at me
1: nothing taken above ISO 200
2: on a camera which has a shiney new metering module which is one of its flagship features, all but one of them has a significant exposure compensation applied.
As always it's hard to tell anything much from sample images, looking forward to some reviews and user experiences!

Very expensive considering the similar competition. Needs to be around the £800 mark.

I wonder how big the RAW is? I've had RAWs over 30Mb at higher ISOs with the K-5 Expect them to get to 45MB

I don't know why but the Pentax servers seem to limit the download speed on any file be it the test images, PDFs of manuals, updates &c. I was watching a manual download and it was running at around 500kbps.

Surely that is the photographer taking creative control of the output of the camera? If the K-3 knew what he was trying to produce, that would be really amazing technology.

Interesting examples. I have quite similar examples to the first and fifth shots. With the first the image quality is pretty much up to what I would expect to achieve with the K5 and my favourite lenses around that focal length, although I don't have a 16-50 to judge it against. The fifth struck me as more interesting. The detail on the beak is again pretty much I get from the K5 and DA300. Here are comparable crops from the background. The K3 is a camera processed JPEG and the K5 is raw through Lightroom with sharpening of 25 and no noise reduction:
Obviously completely unscientific and the only proper way to judge is by all things being equal. However I have drawn my own initial conclusions.
