What mode are you shooting in. Perhaps changing your mode might help. Then again I suppose it's why it's called live view

Mode doesn't matter and lens doesn't matter. Only fully manual lens with no A setting doesn't do that. And I can't remember K-5 doing that.
It's not a massive issue for me as I rarely use LV anyway. I just noticed that today playing with my Tamron 70-200 trying manual focus in LV with peaking. It's much less annoying with DA 15 or DA 35 due to smaller diaphram than Tamron so it doesn't make so much noise.

What does the aperture sound like?
I mean with focusing and shake reduction on, moving to a dark area potentially means quite a few things are happening at once.

That's normal and is why focusing is sometimes difficult. Just shine a torch into the lens and see the aperture open and close. From memory it uses 2 stop increments so f2.8 then f/5.6 on the K-5.
It makes a lens with an aperture ring not set on A very useful (not many people know that ) Why buy a Pentax-A 50mm f/1.2 to use in live view when the aperture closes down to view
