K-3 20 page review out

Based on some of the autofocus tests, I might even think about a K-50 for cost-effective fast focusing!
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Dear god, and there was me thinking that there was no more of a muppety reviewer than Kai.

He talked sense and had enthusiasm Chris, without any silly antics and time wasting.
Blunty seems a bit of a personality, but no worse than anyone else with a strong personality. He's keen.

Well I approve of enthusiasm, but not at the expense of credibility. He talked sense and had enthusiasm Chris, without any silly antics and time wasting.

Personally, I wouldn't call it a review, it was unalloyed gushing, and any kind of review that doesn't at least comment on the biggest achilles heel of Pentax cameras, namely the AF, calls into question the attention to detail of the rest of the review.
The Camera Store one was just as enthusiastic, yet tempered with enough objectivity to remain believable.

The guy wasn't aiming at anything specialised though was he? He was enthused and there's nothing wrong with being enthused. Looking at his images the camera performed well for what he took.
No doubt he could have taken things to a sports event but that depends on what's going on when we have the camera.
I was chasing after having some light, never mind sports shots. Fortunately the weather was relatively kind to me, even though the hours ay have been short. You can have a go at my efforts quite soon. They have to prise the camera back from my locked fingers yet....

If they want to lend it to me after you've done all the shots of the stationary buildings ( ), I'm more than happy to sit at the end of the runway at my local airfield and take pictures of the departing aircraft to review the AF's tracking ability. They have to prise the camera back from my locked fingers yet....
Heck, I'll even provide a Bigma

Stationary buildings indeed Chris, you don't realise how fast buildings move around here. Or that might be camera shake?

Blunty likes Pentax! He shoots a Q and an MX1 but shoots off brand (Not to be discussed here!) for DSLR and Mirrorless, He comes at things more from a video perspective being a bit of a videographer, he gets to review a lot of gear and seems genuine enough to me! I don't find him nearly as annoying as some, at least he's actually picked the damn thing up before he's shot his gob off!johnriley wrote:

Well I know how careful you are to avoid photographing anything that might move, so I thought I'd make sure that our tests don't overlap. Stationary buildings indeed Chris, you don't realise how fast buildings move around here. Or that might be camera shake?
It was a serious offer though - not that I'd expect the powers that be to take it up. I spend quite a bit of time up fairly close and personal with things like this...

... which doesn't tax the AF in the slightest...
and this:

and this...

.. which do a lot more. Even at 800px you can see how the K-5 AF is struggling, so if I was able to get much better results than this with the same lens, I might start sounding like Blunty.

We always seem to miss these events, not much time available and when it is available they are generally not on. One of these days. When I do finally get there, somewhere, we'll see how it goes!
