K-01 - First Outing & Images

I've finally got my hands on a mint K-01 after searching for the right one for several weeks. I have to say, it's a belting camera for very little money! Here are some shots from a short walk this evening with just the K-01 and DA 40mm F2.8 XS pancake lens. I am blown away by the detail and sharpness in the images this little beauty takes. I hope you agree and I think this camera will be getting lots of use!

Some nice shots there David, seems to handle the different hues in the sunset well, that Teasel is really sharp but my favourite is the old boot...looks like it is waiting for a Monopoly board to just happen along...

It's the silver one with black trim! Trouble is, I won't be able to prise it out of my son's hands - he's drooling over it because of the focus peaking and video capability!

Great little camera, pleased you finally got one sorted David.

Sincere thanks to all above who have taken the time and trouble to comment on my images and this thread in general. I've only used the K-01 once and whilst it is not in the same league ergonomically as a DSLR, it certainly punches its weight in terms of image quality. My first impressions are:

- it has better IQ than my K-5 and is as good (maybe better) than my K-5IIs!!
- The DA 40mm F2.8 XS lens is superb - very sharp, great colours, great contrast, nice bokeh
- it has significantly better video specs than the K-5
- AF is quick and accurate after downloading and installing the latest firmware (1.03)
- Focus peaking for manual focus assist is very good
- Rear screen is good and not difficult to use, except in the very brightest of sunlight
- Build quality is superb and no, I don't have an issue with the rubber flap!

All of this for £250 including a DA 40mm F2.8 XS pancake lens - WOW what a bargain!

Some very nice shots, the shot I am drawn to is the teasels, just really like that one, have you tried or planning to have a pop at some macro shots with it?

I'm not sure that macro would be its forte as I think the focussing would be difficult. Not because it's not capable, but because focussing on such minute depth of field with the screen some distance from the eye might cause a problem. I will try it though and see because I may be surprised!

Most of the ones in this thread were shot one-handed - this is where the camera excels as it's very easy to take some quick shots this way, especially with the DA 40mm F2.8 XS lens attached which add so little weight.
