It is lovely enthusiasm on his face. I like it.
But I am not a specialist to give good CC. I usually prefer BW with portraits. I think that there will people, who could advise, how to make it more vivid.
For me the white on the color photo isnt pleasing.
I would read the opinions with interest too. Thatswhy I drag this thread up again

Hehe, I'm also no specialist, and I think the opposite
The BW one I'm not keen on at all. There's not enough contrast, and his skin looks too grey and the background has gone grey. The eyes are also quite soft, perhaps from cropping too tightly.
I much prefer the colour one even though the left side of his face is a bit bright for my taste.

I have no good result...
Maybe working with the small pic, but it went even more soft totally out of focus
But I think the contrast is on the way to be better.

BTW, I think cropping work is the better part of the pic. I usually try to get the pic into better colors or tones and only then give the final touch to the crop.
PS, I wish Malo was here to show or teach. Someone else ready for it ?

I will have a go at making it better In the colour and contrast
I to wish Malo was here to show and teach. what about lilly her working the bw field is Fantastic and you've done some great b&w as well
