Decided to have another go with my S-M-C Takumar 400mm f/5.6 lens on my K-3 with a small extension tube to improve the close-focus range.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Very good shot with a difficult to use lens (in my experience) - No fringing, did you have to do much PP? I was never able to get a sharp shot even in good lighting with the copy I used. I've just got an A version which I find easier to use, but the long minimum focus can be a problem - I'll give your solution a go!

Slightly off topic, but I just looked through some of your photos and was particularly taken with "Stairway to .... conservation" - a stand out image IMO

Thanks both.

I didn't do much PP: slight adjustment to the black point, upped clarity and vibrance, slightly more sharpening than the default in Lightroom, and some noise reduction. All quickly done with the sliders in Lightroom. I tried the lightroom defringing but it didn't seem to make any difference so I gave up. Oh, and I gave it a 5x4 crop which on the whole I find nicer than the default 6x4.

I'd forgotten about the stairs one. It was part of my "single in..." when I was doing that. I should start again. Perhaps when my SMC Pentax K 200/2.5 arrives next week.

Cheers, Kris.

Wonderful detail. How are you steadying it? On a beanbag? When I get a minute or three I must try this with my 300mm
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thank you.

I was using a tripod and a small extension tube to improve the close focus distance. K.

Funny that, I bought it from someone in your neck of the woods...

Cheers all, K.
