Get a Sigma EX DG 180mm Macro lens, you don't have to get too close.
And your 'Nick" isn't helping matters also,I presume.

Its not a dirty sensor, I thought the same when i first saw it but checking other shots it wasn't there.
I should clone it out though.

I have a large bushy tree in my yard and it has dozens of Jumping and Lynx spiders in it. I call it my Jumping spider tree, as you would.

I must say that first shot is amazing. A lot of emotion portrayed, yes it is anthropomorphic but the whole scene is really good.

Spider:
"I don't want to come out... It is is scary out there"

So cute!
