Joint development ?

The photos of the newly announced Pentax X70 and Nikon P90 do look very similar and their specifications are too. Are these two cameras the result of a joint development ? If so perhaps their might be other exciting joint Pentax - Nikon projects on the horizon ? There have long been murmurings of Nikon wanting to break into the medium format market. With Pentax's long tradition of fine medium format camera's perhaps there could be scope for a little cooperation here. A Nikon badged medium format camera, with Pentax based optics ?

All pure speculation on my part after a few beers. (Perhaps too many ?) Anyone else care to speculate ?

It could be that the camera's are made by a third party and just rebadged. Not the first time Nikon have done this, my first digital in 1998 was a Nikon 600 that had been made for Nikon by Panasonic..... very poor camera only 2mp.

There is a Kodak with very similar specs too, though it looks a bit different.

I speculate that Sony will launch a takeover bid for Nikon very soon if their share price keeps dropping.
Then we could have a Sony/Nikon/Pentax/Samsung hybrid

I think there'd be more interest in a "Pentax" Medium Format camera with Nikon based optics. Lenses are where the big money is made, and if Nikon were in the driving seat.....

Nikon used to make lenses for the Bronica S2A. I've still got mine complete with Nikkors 50mm, 75mm and 135mm. Very sharp lenses that never really shone on the S2A, because the camera mirror always caused a slight shake that was enough to take the edge off, but used with flash and hardly any ambient light they were razor sharp.

Some unbelievable stuff..... here's a Nikon lens on what must be the best bellows ever made ebay Not sure what sort of coverage the lenses have, but Bronica would hardly go to all the trouble of making such a complex bellows if the lenses weren't up to it.

Nikon also made lenses for other 120 cameras such as Makina.
