I needed a replacement clamp dial button for my 50 FA Macro, they helped me identify the exact part (Pentax expanded parts diagram) and then ordered and supplied it for a reasonable price and not too long a wait!
Had the same thing with the diopiter adjustment lever on a K-7
They got it sent from Japan and it was posted on to me within a week or two.

The lever was 99p .. the postage was £5

coincidentally, I have been called today and they told me the lens has been repaired. I have got also a good 20% off saying I am a forum user (it has been a good idea to complain here )

Duh..... wish I'd known that before I paid the full price!!!
Don't feel too bad though, John should have said "Forum Subscriber" simply joining the forum doesn't get you the discount, you can tell who does get the discount by the PU logo in their Avatars

Doesn't look as though they check particularly hard though (if you look at the previous post).

I just got my set of K200D focus shims from Johnson's. They've taken around 5 weeks to arrive, but they had to wait for a couple of them to come in.

I only dealt with them on the phone, they seemed very friendly & entirely professional.

Would I have gotten a 20% discount on the shims if I'd mentioned PU? Too late now anyway.

Are personal callers welcome at Johnsons?

Has anyone had anything repaired while they waited?

My 16-45 is in need of repair as a bump on the front of the lens has caused the focus & zoom mechanisms to jam.

I would also quite like them to take a look at my K10D following the drop 18 months ago that snapped my 55-300 plus existing "slanty" viewfinder issues and also to check the focussing action on repaired 55-300.

With that little lot, a day return on the train compares favourably with postage charges.

I doubt very much if that lot could be repaired while you wait even if they do offer that service

I think you are certainly right there Ken, but it would be good if they were able to take a look and possibly give estimates on the day.

It would speed the repairs compared with sending off Recorded Delivery and then estimate and acceptance by postal correspondence.

It may or may not be worthwhile (or necessary) for any work on my K10D as it still functions fine, although I think there is a small piece of plastic rattling around in the battery compartment. If that could be decided on site that would save on postage.

Besides I have never had a walk round Stoke!

Thanks for all the information on here and I have just registered,. I was just about to send my camera off for repair at Johnsons and thought that I would first check that I have the correct address and I am glad that I have, as I came across this forum. I am amazed at what information you can get by just googling.

I can now rest assured that I am sending my camera to the right company and from the posts on this forum they seem to do a good job, so thank you all.

Once my camera is repaired I will report back and let you know if I got a discount too.

In my experience, unfortunately, their performance in simply servicing my K-3 to fix an autofocus issue a couple of years ago was not "impressive" - had to email them several times to get some "action", and then, when they finally returned the body (fixed, it has to be said), they failed to return the USB flash drive that I sent in with the body to illustrate the issues - had to email them about that before I got it back (value was very low, but "it's the thought that counts").
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)
