It's Bee Hunting Time!

The marjoram border is in full bloom and the low hum that comes from it can only mean one thing - it's bee hunting time! Lack of practice meant that most shots were subsequently discarded. But things were improving by the time I got fed up with kneeling and crawling on hard ground, which holds out the prospect of more and better over the next month or so. Anyway, here are a few of the best from yesterday. Two bees and a not (to) bee (sorry, couldn't resist the obvious and cringeworthy...). The first two are not cropped, the third is cropped to about 50% of the frame. All with K3 + Irix 150mm macro + 1.4TC, hand held of course, no flash.

Thoughts, comments etc. welcome as usual.

Very nice, you've got plenty of detail there. Motivates me to go out and check the garden this weekend.

Bee bothering is always fun but the hoverfly steals the show here!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks folks. That hoverfly was an unexpected gift. There were plenty around, but all hanging around among stalks and foliage so no clear view of them. And then that little darling hovered in a gap with a decent background. Bliss!
