But this site is about learning. I reckon I am happy if 1% of all the photographs I take are good enough to show, and right now I'm hitting about 10% so I think I must be getting better!
Don't disagree with your gripe one bit (my daughter's a model and she hates it when the shots come out not even looking like her ! ) but Beyonce's thumb is behind her waist (you can see an incy tincy little bit) - normal position for the thumb in that pose methinks. The finger is just terrible work !

Just to drag this back to the question, there is a reason great photographers only ever seem to make great photographs - because they only show the ones they show and you never see the bad ones.
My Canon shooting buddy was always under the impression the pro's get great pic because they spend a lot of time setting one up and you shouldn't have to snap loads.
I had to explain to him on pro shoots hundreds of snaps are taken.

As is common knowledge now the pulling down of the Saddam Hussein statue in Baghdad following the invasion in 2003 was a CIA staged photocall using paid henchmen of Ahmed Chalabi a friend of washington.
however at the time the mainstream media including the BBC spun the event as a huge crowded event attended by thousands of allegedly jubilant Iraqis. total lies of course, but laughably here'sthe evening standard's extremely bad attempt at painting in the crowd ....
I won't hijack the thread any further on this so for a detailed analysis on all the cloning going on in that picture see my thread at Smeggy's here

I do believe there ought to be a standardized watermark to identify the level of photochopping done to an image for fashion/beauty/fitness shots. I would take Bea Arthur

and photoshop her till she looks like Minka Kelly

if they pay me by the hour and be honest about it.

Learn photography by studying great photos, and plagiarizing them. They stole too.
Learn photography by mastering PP. A picture isn't yours until you've pissed on it.
Learn photography by reading all you can. Then forget it all, and invent your own.
We gain good judgment from experience. We gain experience by making bad judgments.
There is no cheating in art. My bro-in-laws the police chief / painter said so.
: Too many film & digital cameras & lenses, oh my!
