istD doesn't play ball

Seconded. Mercury is also a major environmental breach, and is getting rare these days.

As I'm still waiting for the return of my K20 (I was told that the parts had arrived and it should be on it's way in due course; that was on Tuesday) I thought I should give the firmware update a try.

After I inserted the CF card with the new firmware on it I powered the *istD up while holding the menu button. A "loading" appeared on the screen. This looked very promising as I couldn't convince the camera to show anything on the screen unless I remove the backup battery and put it in again, after which it would prompt me for date/time info that I cannot enter as it doesn't react to any key presses.
A moment later my hopes faded as the additional information "error" appeared on the screen.

Well, it was worth a try and at least it hasn't done additional damage to the camera.

I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms after more than two weeks without a working camera...

Yes, I guess that is true. And now I can develop a more profound understanding of teenagers.

It's a bit like gaining understanding after recovering from a short term memory loss I suffered after an accident a while back.

Galoot: I know how it is meant. But don't blame me, blame the judges. It's far too much fun to not take part in the competitions and I haven't won that often...
