I use the Caption Field

In the 'Library' module, down the R/H side below the 'Metadata' panel, there is a panel called 'Comments'.
Does any know if/how it is possible to manually type entries in this panel ? I would like to add shooting notes etc but in the box where I would hope to enter it is greyed out with text 'Comments not supported here'.
Any clues on how to use it (or where it should be used instead) would be much appreciated.
