Is there a way to sort photos by EXIF data?

If I remember correctly, then Adobe Lightroom is doing such kind of thing.
And I'm sure, that many other programs will do it also.
And I'm sure, that many other programs will do it also.

Lightroom is the easiest way I have found to catalogue my pictures and find those I want easily. You can try the 30 day trial from the adobe website. It is a really good program.

Yes, in lightroom you can search by almost all exif fields, (as far as I am aware)

Lightroom's metadata browser facilitates searches by Camera, Lens, File type, Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO setting, Date, Location, Creator, and each of 5 coloured labels.
I haven't found a way to browse by focal length yet.
Sadly, Sigma lenses are logged as just that, 'Sigma'.
Pentax K,M lenses listed as 'K,M Lens'.
Pentax A, listed as 'A Series Lens'.
SMCP F lenses and newer are recorded correctly.

I've jsut checked and can't get lightroom to 'find' 18mm in any text field. i know lots of my images are at 18mm and it shows in the file header info, but I can't find only those images taken at 18mm.

It can be done by using Keyword Tags, but that's a lot of work . . . unless the process could be automated somehow.

in aperture, I just created a new smart album, selected (under the (+) menu to sort images by exif data, then chose shutter speeds and every image in my library with a shutter speed of one second or longer appeared in the new album.
Got a Mac?

Lightroom can select by most of the commonly used EXIF fields including shutter speed, aperture etc. Can Aperture show you the images shot with a particular lens set to a particular focal length? Lightroom can't do that . . . yet.

I organise the files and folders, and then just view them all with Picasa - but I have Photoshop CS3 if that can do any better?
