Is our Photography better?

Here's a poll about improvement. Do we think we are better photographers now than one year ago? Or are we getting worse or just treading water?

How do you rate your own progress?

Please leave a message to say why you think as you do and also what could be done to improve if that's what you feel is needed.

I'll start off by saying I think I have improved. Basically, better attention to detail and always needing more patience, but less liable to go off at a tangent with something too obscure.

The objective now is to require less cropping by being even tighter with composition, thus getting the best quality possible out of every shot.

Just treading water .. need to get out more.

Difficult question, John. I may feel that I have improved, although others may think otherwise. I answered Yes, because its my opinion.

Technically, I think I am getting the hang of it, correct exposure, etc. But the quality is just as much about composition, and that is much more demanding. A question of talent, or lack thereof, maybe?

Technically improving. Creatively not so sure. Should look to expand the type of photography I'm doing, but as I am enjoying what I'm doing, I'll carry on for now.

I am better than a year ago - but I am starting from a low base...

Although I've dabbled in photography for years it's only recently that I have attempted to move beyond record shots. Joining this forum has helped a lot, along with the inevitable frustration of seeing others produce much better results with the same kit. I've started playing with macro photography and photoshop and have accumulated a veritable arsenal of lenses, tripods and bags - just the small matter of getting the best out of it all now...

I'm about the same as a year ago I think - whilst I'm lucky enough to get out and about a bit it's often primarily for hiking and so I don't really spend as much time as I would like exploring compositions and techniques - I'm not always spending my time in the ideal lighting for landscape photography either.

I would be disappointed if I didn't believe I had improved in the past 12 months. Being a member of PU and a couple of other photo forums I have learned much from the feedback of other photographers. Photoshop skills have not been my strong point but my post processing has improved in the past year.

yep.

I've improved but I only started a couple of years ago. In fact I have been going through some of my older shots (ones I was proud of at the time) and I can see some glaring problems with them.

Having said that I still have a long way to go so I'm going to keep asking everyone here for tips and critique.

Treading water here...

I don't think i've come along much but I have really enjoyed my picture taking over the last 12months. I wished I would have been more dedicated in getting out taking landscape shots at the 'golden hour'. Life and laziness just get in the way!

Still a snapper. I find it hard to take enough time to do justice to the photos that I want to take.
