I think it's more consistent now. Certainly I'm getting better exposures than I was last year and know more about metering than I did then, rather than just aiming and expecting the camera to cope.

I could do with new subjects now, as it's getting to the stage where you could construct a precise replica of the Elan Valley from a moonscape using my photo albums as a reference...

I think a lot of my improvements have come about by understanding the equipment better, but I think there are significant improvements in my technique too. Tonight I gave a presentation at the camera club here in Bolton that we have kept up our membership of, which went very well, and they want to use some of my pictures for inter-club competitions, both of which would have been unthinkable a year ago.

Just got a K5 today too, so it's been a great day all round!

Qatar to Lancs - that's a long way to travel for your camera club AG. Hope the meetings aren't too frequent.

Been over on three weeks holiday. Going back to Qatar today.

I have yet to meet anyone that looks forward to going back there.

It has no heartbeat.

My photography. I tend to cover many different types from street, macro, sport and landscape so I never look at "improved or static or lacking preparation". I try to be self critical.

I have improved with the help of people on line here, that has give me the time and advice that I have needed.
There are so many different types of photographers on this site and all help one and all, that is what’s needed and its great!
So I hope it continues which I have a strong feeling it will! So from me thank to all that have helped me long live PENTAX

I think I've improved, as I now feel I can show some of my pics to other than family or friends. The feedback has been a spur, something F&F don't really supply.

My photography skills have made a huge improvement in the last 12 months.

I put this down to better photo opportunities, but also down to finally getting matching bodies. The matching bodies has instinctively made me concentrate on the viewfinder rather than asking myself which body am I using, how do I change aperture setting etc... all those simple tasks are so much simpler when using identical bodies...

I would say the same for me - yes there was an improvement and this mainly for two reasons. One is being in communities such as PU or FC - the feedback you get (and here, I have to say, the PU feedback is far more constructive than e.g. the FC feedback) motivates you to work on your skills. It is also a side effect that if you show pictures to a community, you do not want to show bad ones so you more and more work on your pics to get the maximum out of it.
The other major reason is shear practice - I shoot per average 7000-8000 pictures per year - would be strange, if this does not lead to an improvement of skills - although I have to say that the learning curve is very much a sigmoid-shaped curve and I am already in the upper third of the curve (which means - the big steps are over, my skills know improve less dramatic as they did it e.g. 2 years ago )

I don't really mind coming back here, it's just that it's very hot at the moment....40°C when we landed at midnight last night....and Ramadan soon with no more holidays until October Great to see the cats though. And living here means I claimed the VAT back on the K5 I just bought

I'm comparing Qatar to Oman and Bahrain. No problem with the heat as Oman regularly hits 50'C in the summer away from the coast. Yes, living abroad has the VAT advantage.
