iPhone Photography

Just thinking about the iPhone, which has been mentioned elsewhere, I was wondering which photograhy apps that people use? I've had a look at them and couldn't really find anything useful, but maybe I'm missing something.

All the Apps I've downloaded have been related to the other stuff, such as weather, locations, maps and so on, rather than the photography itself.

The only other things have been Pentax User, ePHOTOzine and facebook that I use regularly on a number of different devices.

Any good thoughts?

Everything I want and need is in the camera.

The only app that might be useful is were you can place on a grid how your flash arrangement was for future reference. Since I'm learning that, it might be handy but I can also manage with a pen and a notebook

Not for the iphone but Don posted a link a while ago to something similar for PC.

Dunno about the iphone specificaly, but I can see that geotagging your photographs might be useful.

Got a GPS logger for that .

Quite a few phones have fairly good cameras on them, certainly good enough for websites such as facebook.

It all boils down to what you want a camera for.

Had an Iphone for 3 days sent it back, I won't go into it, bought a HTC HD2 haven't looked back, not so many apps as the Iphone but enough for what I need and a 5meg camera.

I think iphones lag behind other brands in terms of the camera.

I love having a camera on my phone... it's extremely useful. Mine takes reasonable shots as well (its a Sony Ericson), but I only use it for quick 'record' shots. The most useful feature on my phone for photography is having google maps, especially the 'satellite view'.

There's also the ability to access Pentax User on the run... and ebay of course

One reason may be that you can send your iPhone camera straight to Flickr (there's an app for that)!

My phone does that too! Think iphone dominates cos there's only one model, most other brands have several.

Its on the way with Android, I have raised my hopes for the Dell mini 5, probably to be dashed again when I see the price tag.

Windows 7 is coming out for the HTC HD2 and as I have windows 7 on my laptop that should be pretty good, although I have windows 6.5 on my phone I'm quite happy with that.

I think Android is based on the open source Linux style of operating systems. It is a common platform that every phone manufacturer can adapt for their own phones. They all share a common core. So you get Motorola/HTC/Dell all releasing android phones.

On top of android people can write apps which "should" run on every phone that android can.

(btw, Apple OSX is based on a linux style core and they heavily adapt it for reliability and a fabulous user interface. They didn't start from stratch!)

Anyway enough thread splitting.

The only Iphone photography app I have tried was just out of curiosity and it allowes you too cartoonify your photos, nifty gadget.

I also downloaded a photography audiobook, I think it was called the F-spot, it gave me something to listen too on a recent flight.

I will also rent and download a movie if one takes my fancy, it sure helps too kill time at airports and such.
