Interesting Weekend...

Very mixed weekend of good and bad events mostly marked by my partner's and my chinchilla, Eco, having to not be woken from an operation due to an intestinal abscess. He was only two years old and had a really nice cheeky character. It was very sad to see him in pain and not wanting to do anything.

A few good things but doesn't really balance out the loss of a member of our family, a pet we were very attached to. Found an auto-winder for my ME Super and Super A. No fungus in K and A lenses that have been stored for years. Was prevented from ordering a K10D by my partner which I guessed meant my family had ordered me one as a gift. I have to wait a few days to get it but I'll be having a lot of fun when it arrives. Shame I won't be able to photograph our little Eco

I never thought I'd get be so attached to a pet, he'll be sorely missed.

We've gone away for a few days to get away for a while and I'll hopefully find some distraction and comfort of shooting with my new camera. I'll post the first shot which I'll dedicate to Eco's memory (I'm going to hunt for something peaceful).

PS. Eco is not named after Echo but Escherichia coli restriction endonuclease I

I guess this is what happens when you study Biochemistry...

I've had three dogs during my life time, all of which had to be put to sleep before their time. Each was a heart breaking event for me, the last, Lucy - Golden Retriever bitch, was October 2006 and I still miss her. You have my sympathies.
People who choose a life without pets may not understand or sympathise with your grief. The rest of us do.

Enjoy your new camera when it arrives.

It is always a heartbreaking event when you say goodbye to a pet no matter how long or short a time you have enjoyed their company, and no matter how big or small that pet was. It is always a really difficult decision to make to put a much loved pet to sleep, even when you know it is the right thing to do. You have my sympathy at the loss of Eco.
