He's got some nice bits and pieces in there that's for sure, but is a second hand FA*85/1.4 really worth £677 when you could pick up a brand new FA77 for less money? I've never actually used one but half-a-stop of speed aside, can it really be that much better?

If you look closely at the images provided of the 85mm doesn't the silver finish look rather worn?

I have bought from him and would highly recommend.
He seems to have a good supply of second hand 85 f1.4 !
To be fair to him John, he does say in the listing there are "quite a few" cosmetic marks on the lens, and very detailed pictures are available.

That's fair enough. I've seen a few Pentax silver finish lenses from the same era and they don't look that great after reasonably hard use.
I think modern finishes are much better in this regards.

Especially the finish on the Pentax lenses, its a lot more scuff resistent compared to the Sigma EX lenses.

The FA* 85mm has always commanded sky-high prices. When new it was well over £1,000 if I remember correctly. And because of that, there aren't too many around. A true cult lens.

I had a chance to buy the A series version once at around £350.00
It was gorgeous, but at the time I didn't have the cash with me and it was cash or nothing. That's the way it goes.

I'm probably missing something but looking at two Nikon lenses, can it really cost £200 for a scruffy Nikon box, you could of course turn it into a Nikon pinhole camera. Not sure how sharp the pictures would be, of course.

My FA*24 (that I sold to another member here) had had nothing but gentle & careful use, but there were a lot of wear marks on the hood and body.
Most of these appeared to be from rubbing against the inside of my camera bag - the finish couldn't even cope with that
