You are new to this if you've just discovered Ricehigh...
I'm pretty sure that my opinion is quite mild compared to some around here when I tell you to take what he says with a grain of salt... For someone who claims to be a Pentax user, he doesn't seem to think much of any of their equipment - at least anything less than 20 years old...
It would almost seem that he thinks he has an axe to grind with Pentax over some supposed slight or something...

You will find he is someone who likes to spend his time doing "tests" of equipment...such as identifying shutter-lag or some other issue.
I dont think he actually takes photographs, or at least I have never seen him post one.

Even this would be potentially useful if the tests were reliable and scientific, but this can be a long way from reality. He writes in a pseudo-scientific style, but don't let that fool you into assuming that what is being reported is all that scientific. It is certainly not impartial. You will find he is someone who likes to spend his time doing "tests" of equipment...such as identifying shutter-lag or some other issue.

I think this is true, but in itself I don't think it's an issue. The brilliant creative types that can take a beautiful photo are not likely to be good at doing the boring drudgery of rigorous equipment testing on which we rely.I dont think he actually takes photographs, or at least I have never seen him post one.
Sadly though, rigour is not a word that comes to mind in what I've seen of RH's work.

I would say that RH's site does have some useful information. But the rest can be - depressing/annoying/aggravating (delete as appropriate).
It certainly can waste a lot of your time that you should be using to go out and take great photos!!

I'm full of seasonal good cheer at the moment, but it is something of a coincidence that the two most absurd people connected with photography on the Internet should both be mentioned on here within the space of a few hours.I'm going to hide under a rock until George has commented, as I believe collateral damage may occur!
