Thanks for the link - an interesting article I thought; I wasn't surprised by any of the points made but it is nice to see them all laid out in the article. Thank you Pentax for giving a mechanism to offset at least some of this with the ability to adjust autofocus for individual lenses (on the K7 and K5 to my knowledge).

Yes, nice to see that someone's done some sensible research on the topic.

I doubt it'll stop people posting an uncropped image at 800px wide, and claiming it proves their lens is either sharp or soft though.

It's all a bit too much for me - I just look at my pictures and decide whether or not they look sharp! I was interested in the bit that said a camera will autofocus slightly differently on exactly the same spot if you take it out of focus then refocus again. I have noticed this quite clearly with my K-x and the 55-300mm lens. It's one reason why I tend to use manual focus where practical / possible.
