This is the new thread for the proposed Ingleton and Ribblehead meet, A date has yet to be fixed but davem has suggested October for the best light and plenty of water coming down the falls, Tbh I would have liked something a little sooner and I dont think we will have a lack of water for the falls not with our weather here anyway!, but I`ll leave it up to you guys to suggest dates.

As usual all are welcome and its always nice to see new faces as well, Great to meet Shaun, Gwil and Dave at the Cheshire steam fair lets hope you guys can make it again

Heres a link for Ingleton and Ribblehead link

I think September might be a safer bet as far as weather is concerned.

That would be worth coming up all the way from that London for....I love the area, having lived in the Yorkshire Dales....

a view of a Stanier or Gresley Pacific crossing the Ribblehead would be an added attraction

but September is OUT for me

The last time I was at Ingleton Falls I got bitten to death by Midges - will they have disappeared by Sept? October after the 15th would be good for me or prior to 22/9. During that period I will be in The Kootenays in British Columbia visiting my brother - I may take a few photos!!!!

Cheers

John

thats the gist of it

Might be too much of a yomp for my poor decrepid body, but I'll see how I feel nearer the finalised date, I could always wait in the pub for you all

well I could join you then as I am VERY overweight and unbelievably unfit so any walking on the flat that;s not too long I'd be OK - much beyond that and i'd be collapsing in a heap

Probably too far for me to attend but 46115 Scots Guardsman is scheduled to cross the viaduct on both Sat 1st October and Sat 8th. On the first it's pulling 'The Train of Hope' and will be heading south from Carlisle late afternoon. On the 8th she is hauling 'The Hadrian' heading north towards Carlisle in the morning. I don't think timings have been published yet.

Scots Guardsman would make a fine sight at Ribblehead, depending on the weather. The Train of Hope should leave Crewe at 09.00, I had planned to catch a shot at Winwick but Ribblehead would be a far better location IMHO. The approximate timings for The Hadrian 13.15 at Carlisle so a relatively early start required to catch her at Ribblehead.
