TBH: I never though of IR photography whenever I've been over in Thailand. As soon as you step out of Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, you are met by a blaze of colours - from phosphorus-pink taxis, and brightly-decorated tuk-tuks, to the people wearing shirts in the same colours as the king chooses to wear at any given time (at one time it was pink, and more recently, yellow). The Bhuddist temples themselves are awash with bright colours too, and the monks are dressed in saffron robes. I think that, with all these colours "attacking" the eyes, it's too easy to get swept away by it all. Next time the wife and I go back to visit the family there, I'll try IR, as well as colour photography. Thanks for the tip!!

Everything you wrote here sounds very exciting. Thailand is one of the "must go" places in my "to do" list!
Life is full of frames but only few of them will be captured.

Arthur - the most expensive part of Thailand is getting there!! If you go at the right time, you can puck up an economy return for around £500, though 9 times out of 10, it will involve a change of flight. Emirates and Etihad usually have good deals, and they are great airlines to travel with. If you are a lone traveller, you could try getting in touch with the likes of British Airways, and offer yourself as an on-board courier. linkEverything you wrote here sounds very exciting. Once you arrive in Thailand, expect to pay (at current exchange rates) around £25-30 per night for a decent hotel in Bangkok, and in "tourist-traps" such as Phuket, Pattaya, and Koh Samui around £15-20 for a place to put your head down at night. Food's cheap too - always eat where the locals go, otherwise you will get "ripped-off" with "farang (foreigner)" prices.
If you fancy a spot of marine photography (snorkel or scuba), the best places I found were at Koh Lipeh, which is in the south, close to Malaysia, or Koh Similan, which is a 90-minute boat ride from Phuket.
There are so many tips I could give you, but it's best you look on the WWW for yourself.
