Joining this site has improved my written English a great deal, can be a bit difficult when you have 3 languages circling in my brains, each time when I write, I have to check with the dictionary especially for spelling.
Still I think I can bluff my way around with the 3 languages, Thanks Pentaxians, reading the various posts is sort of English without tears for me, Regards

ME Super ERCs are relatively easy to come by - as I understand it they were the ones with "Pentax" picked out in silver on the front (as opposed to the original type with "Asahi Pentax" and the little metal badge next to the lens snout).
I've never had any problems with photographic kit via ebay. Well, I did have a 35mm f2.8 with fungus but the seller was excellent, refunded my return postage, had the lens cleaned, then asked whether I'd like the lens or a refund. As it was otherwise mint I chose to take the lens back.
I'd be looking for an LX in your position. It did replace the K2 as their top of the range film body after all...

I'm on the lookout from various dealers for the cases, being in a small village and in the middle of agricultural country, we do not have any 2nd hand equipment dealers where we are so the easiest for me is through the net. Know of any dealers in UK where I can get them, will appreciate.
I do keep my eyes open for an LX but have to be cautious, there's one going for £200+, a bit steep.
My bad experience was a beat-up SIa,(photo on e-bay was doctored) still it works, one of these days I'll change the top and bottom plate as well as the latch for the back opening.

eBay is an onvious choice. If you save a search for the item you want then as soon as somebody lists it you will receive an e-mail.
Best regards, John

This any use to you? It looks in better shape than most and it's the right vintage for an ME Super.I'm on the lookout from various dealers for the cases, being in a small village and in the middle of agricultural country, we do not have any 2nd hand equipment dealers where we are so the easiest for me is through the net. I've had the same experience looking at LX's, I keep seeing heavily used examples going for over £100. You'd have no idea how long it would keep going for, and while I can replace manky light seals myself a proper CLA for an LX is around the £100 mark. I'm actually thinking it would be better to buy a tidy but jammed example cheaply, get it overhauled, and have a freshly serviced LX for about the same as people pay for a working example of unknown history.
I actually have an MX in that condition which I was planning to have sorted out, but this new find was cheaper than a professional service so it'll be lurking in the wardrobe for a bit longer. I'm now up to three of them - one battered but apparently working perfectly, one tidy but completely jammed, and one which looked minty in the photos and should be here in a few days!

I just compared and the K2 is indeed the odd duck among the original K series cameras. Is the case for the K2 the same as that of the K1000(?)
The tripod socket is offset approximately 1/4" laterally when compared with the others,
which are located closer to the center. I tried but the cases are not interchangeable.

Thanks for all your kind feedback. Dangermouse Unfortunately I do not have a paypal account as required by the seller. The 1st and last time I purchased from e-bay France, the seller accepted my French cheque. For overseas purchase I normally post details of my card, works well so far.
Mind you on a couple of occasions for items less than £10, the sellers did accept equivalent in Euros cash sent by mail.
With the cost of CLA added, might be better to get an LX in good condition, this one that I saw on the net in UK for £200+ carries a 6 months warranty, still a bit steep. I suppose we are of the same mind, trying to look for an E++ LX at bargin price.
So far I have been pretty lucky with all my Pentaxes (except the SIa)all must have had very careful previous owners.Regards

Well, I've got the MX now and it's pretty much perfect. A little corrosion of the chrome on the sides of the lens mount flange, a few minor paint scrapes and a missing lens cap clip are about the only things I can find wrong with it. The ERC is complete and a genuine MX one with the dark blue/black felt inside rather than the red found on other M series cases. I've ordered a set of replacement light seals as they've gone gooey, so I'll also be replacing those on my ME and KM as the kit was a special offer to replace seals on three cameras. Looking forward to trying this one out!
