Pioneering use of telephoto lenses in fashion photography to produce images that aren't at all flat, amongst a great deal else.

I watched most of this programme last night.

Combining Street Photography and Fashion Photography with the use of a telephoto lens. He certainly was an original. Great images.
The past and current conversations with the man and his models, was also very interesting.

"flat" telephoto shots

I knew you'd come round!

I never said I didn't like them, they are essential to fashion
work. It's just that fashion togs have brainwashed themselves into
thinking that someone who's nose is half as long as it should be
is the norm.

In fact my favourite photographer of all time (Jay Maisel) shot to
fame doing flat 400-600mm shots of bridges for the covers of
Life, Time etc. I bought a few of his books which contained a lot
of flat shots.

Yeah, really enjoyed this. I'm finding programmes like this increasingly interesting these days. That drama documentary about Bailey a few months back ("we'll take manhattan") was also really good.
