What about the Samsung NX in competitions?

It should be obvious from most signatures (long or short) which camera(s) we are using

NX is neither K mount nor Pentax, I'd say too far removed. Treat it like just another P&S by Samsung.

My only comment is..

If you put your toe into the water and it is warm you quickly end up to your neck.

The occasional transgression out of necessety is one thing but it must not degenerate into transgressions for convenience.

A Pentax site it is and a Pentax site it should always be.

OK, I'm using mobile internet for an hour or two yet, so a late reply to this. The simple thing was of course to send a PM to ask...

Images on the site should be Pentax ones, simply because the site is here for Pentax Users to share and show and discuss that particular marque. So no other marques please for Your Photos and Competitions and usually elesewhere as well.

However, I don't see a problem with what particular camera is used to photograph an item for the Classifieds as long as a huge discussion isn't made of that and it isn't turned into a way to sneak other makes pictures in...although with a bit of thought it isn't difficult to get a camera to take its own picture!

We are pretty flexible here, but generally less so with non-Pentax things because of where it very quickly leads.

Why not just have a link to other images?

I meant literally a link that would not show an image on the Pentax page but open a new tab and show the image there.

K10D don't forget the warning that the photo is not make with a Pentax camera
Really it would be so sad if the site would go down that way.
Of course it's a Pentax site but also a photography site where we talk about photography in general so what's the harm to discuss photos even if they are make with another camera.

The gallery and the competitions are of course Pentax only but the rest, I don't see any reason to deny any photos of other make if it's about the photo of course and not to show off how good another make is.

of course one could be incredibly naughty and suggest that, say, photos taken using an Asahiflex should not be posted on account of not being a Pentax......

I'm not even sure if we have any proud owners of Asahiflex cameras, so obviously I wouldn't dream of making such a statement.....

Because once we go down that road the forum loses its identity as a Pentax Forum and becomes just another "photography forum" we may as well pack up and go join ephotozine

Lets be honest with ourselves, this forum is here by the grace of Pentax User Magazine, with the intention of it been a place to discuss (and therby promote Pentax products, (especially the subscription to Pentax User)

Definitely no non-Pentax photos when members' photos are being discussed. We've been down unhappy paths with this.

Obviously common sense applies as well, and Ansel Adams discussion is not forbidden because he didn't use Pentax. Although he might well have sometimes...
