If you think you're hard enough

The triathlon at Newbiggin yesterday. Swim 750 meters - 23 km bike ride - 5.3km run including quite a steep ramp. C&C's welcome especially any advice on best panning technique. eg SR on or off etc.

Nice action shots, Stan - I like the one of the cyclist.

(But don't understand this passion for extreme physical activity - they might suffer even more when/if they reach old age.)

I too like the cyclist one.

SR off I believe Stan. Unlike the Sigma in lens OS, there is not a specific option for horizontal panning.

You should have had your wellies on for the first pic and got them angled from the front

Stan, you have a real good document with your first image. There is a pleasing composition with all those athletes charging into the water. They're yellow caps serve up a great colour contrast too and I like the backdrop of houses in the image, nice one...

Nor do I Philip, unless it's lugging a well filled camera bag about

I got feet wet Alan so no one got in front of me, there was one brave soul who had his shoes and socks off but he was a nikon user so doesn't count
Still need lots of practice panning and keeping the subject sharp and to turn the SR off

The swimmers went off in groups Paul, each group had a different coloured cap so when the Red caps went it was like watching a box of matches spilling out

My best/worst effort was a half marathon helping to raise $4K+ for cancer research as part of a group - I promised myself I would do it only once - so far so good

From the title I expected that they would be throwing

All great captures and getting your feet wet for
the 1st shot deserves an award on it's own
