I've got it!

After owning my LX for three years now and spending all that time trying to track down an AF400T flash, I HAVE FINALLY FOUND ONE!

I know that the AF280T (which I currently own) will do about 99% of the things that the AF400T will do and the chances of me coming across a photographic situation where only the 400 would do what I needed to do are extremely slim - but knowing that there was a slightly better flash gun out there was driving me mad! That's why I'll never buy a Subaru Impreza or a Mitsubishi Evo - because every 6 months or so they bring out a slightly faster, slightly better version. Of course, the actual cost of these cars is also a limiting factor...

So now I'm a very happy bunny and just had to share my delight with other (presumably) like-minded people.

Hi Baz,
I know what you mean about the 400T. Best gun I have ever had despite no AF beam or auto zoom. It does tend to eat batteries. They are very rare these days but if you can get one of the TR power packs, it becomes even better. tThe recycle time is about half and it lasts all day

It is also worth trying for a HSG and long lead for the 280T. Connect one to hotshoe, the other to the front and you have a perfect 2 to 1 ratio TTL flash setup. Works a treat.

Thanks Kim,

sadly, I had to sell my AF280T/HSG/leads to finance the AF400T, so I'm a one-flash family now. However, I'm interested in the two flash concept you describe - when would this be useful?

Thanks

The stupid thing is that in buying my 360 FGZ I knew it was the most compatible for the *istD but the 500FTZ had more power and a swivel head so I couldn't have the best or "ideal" unit - they never make it that easy
