I need a cuddle to make me feel better!

I need some sympathy-- I was walking to the Weald Show with my lovely 400mm f5.6 A-Series Pentax lens over my shoulder in it's case and I heard a BANG and looked around and the lens had dropped out of the bottom of the case onto the pavement ! The bottom of the case had given way. It was in mint condition since I bought it years ago for £385 with original box and still had the plastic wrapper round it! It now has a dented rim and lens hood -- I am SO CAREFUL with my lovely PENTAX gear usually ---:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

The one small-ish consolation may be that what you heard was a BANG - not a BANG-tinkle...

thanks for all the replies -- I treated myself to a cuddle with my Filipina wife -- the aperture seems to work OK and no cracks in the elements but I have not got around to taking any shots with it yet. Going to treat myself to another cuddle and nice Cup of Tea !
