Been there done that in PortMerrion with a cheapo camera from dixons, only bought it cos we'd forgotten to pack the pentax sfx always said we'd go back but never have (yet)

As long as you keep the film tight in the cassette you can check film advance from rotation of the rewind knob or the film run indicator (red & white stripes) on cameras fitted with it.

My new toy arrived this morning, cant say what cos' it's not a Pentax, but after playing with it for an hour or so I loaded one of the out of date films that accompanied it and snapped my very first frame of the back garden, I then put it to one side on the kitchen worktop with the intention of getting out later to rattle a few frames off.
Half an hour later I went to put the kettle on for coffee and absent mindedly picked up my new toy and cocked and fired the shutter several times, till it suddenly dawned on me I had loaded it with film

I have a KX and an SP1000 which I just bought and had CLA'd. I want to put a roll of film in each of them, but if I do that, I won't be able to pick them up and crank/fire whenever I want to hear the wonderful sound of the shutter!
