I got Moire

The fabled moire has at last shown up.
This is the broken bridge on the M180 (or was it the A180?) on the way to Grimsby. Still glad I got the IIs though.

Should be pretty easy to get rid of though. Lightroom has a moire removal parameter on it's local adjustment brush. Should imagine other apps have similar features?

I think you would have got some type of interference with
any camera on that.

After a couple of days taking a few shots with my new K-5IIs I think I've seen aliasing on both days. The main gain for me over the K-5 is the autofocus accuracy. The added sharpness from losing the AA filter is a bonus, but only if I don't get too many aliasing duds. Hopefully over time I'll notice these occurrences as infrequently as other people do!

First day I got some aliasing in pigeon feathers which was easy enough to reduce in ACR using the chroma noise filter. Second day I got this when taking shots of the K-5 camera body. It looks like the output of a horrible cheap printer that doesn't have any black ink! I wasn't using a spectacularly sharp lens, simply the Pentax 18-250mm at 65mm, f/11. I'm assuming this is aliasing, or is it a lens fringing effect that the sharper camera has been able to resolve better?

2nd set of photos more unexpected than the first, and so more disappointing in a way, but all cameras without an AA filter will be prone to the effect. So far as I can tell from reports only the Foveon sensor escapes the problem -- because of course it avoids the neat repetition of the Bayer pattern used almost universally by cameras.

The odd thing for me is the colouration on the curved edge of the camera body to the bottom right of the 50% JPEG. This is clearly blurred and out of focus, yet it also suffers from the coloured pattening. This suggests it can't be avoided by stopping down to dull the sharpness.

Ah round the corner from where I sometimes temp at killingholme sea terminal. It was one of the trucks frim the sea terminal with a crane on the back that crashed in too the bridge. Seems its going to cost a £1 million to fix it...

That stuff on the K5 body looks like chroma noise. What ISO were you using? If you got rid of it on feathers using the chroma filter than that was probably chroma noise too.
