How do I force a flash when in auto mode of K-5iis? How do I turn off the auto flash.

Two words: 'instruction manual' might help

As Michael says, it's in the operating manual. Pages 69-72 and 161-175.

You have to raise the flash manually for it to operate; button on the left of the pentaprism (as you're looking though it).

Don't raise it - no flash. Raise it - flash if required.

I don't think you can 'force' the flash to fire in auto mode. It won't fire if not required according to the camera's metering system. It is, after all, auto mode - it's very purpose is to take control away from the user and give it to the camera's firmware. If you want control, don't use auto.

Thanks, I was reading the manual on line before receipt of camera next week and was confused by the seemingly conflicting info. I'll happily flash away.
