How waterproof is a K10/20D?

They should I believe or is a shower really different then a rain?

My Pentax may be weather resistant but I look at it as being a protective safety feature, there if needs be, just like an air bag in a vehicle; but I wouldn't crash the car to see if it works!

Well I would hope that the weather seals live up to their name and do the job - as I am sure they will! However, I still would not tempt fate and go dunking £1500 worth of camera and lens in a bucket of water to prove the point...

Does anyone have the new WR 50-200 lens. I'm interested to know how they seal the joint between the lens and camera.

But dunking it in a bucket or using it in the rain are two different matters of course. When you dunk it, you will have pressure on the seals and they aren't design for that but water without any pressure shouldn't be a problem if it does then you can go to Pentax since they claim it's weatherproof!

When I got my divers watch - lost earlier this year on the London Underground (insured, fortunately) - I was told you're not supposed to wear them in the shower/bath. Soap is no good for the seals (same with chlorine in swimming pools, and salt in the sea - always used to rinse mine in fresh water after use). So if you were showering in your Rolex for 20 years, George, then you probably contributed to its demise! Though, having said this, 20 years for a waterproof seal sounds like a good life in any case. Re. using a camera in the shower. I don't think they're designed for that. A watch described as 50m waterproof is not designed for shower use - due to the pressure a shower can exert. Call me cautious, but you won't find me showering my K20D to test it.
