I'm trying to divide a A3 Image in to nine Separate images

I'm working in Photoshop cs3

is there a automatic way to do this in cs3?

or do i have to manual set guide's and crop to them and then copy and paste to a new file

I cannot think of an automatic way of dividing an image up. As you say, set some guides and use those. If you copy the part rather than crop, then when you go to file->new it will offer you a new image the same size as the one on the clipboard.

What you're talking about is usually called 'slicing'. Graphics apps that are oriented towards web designers usually have this feature (e.g. Adobe Fireworks, and the old Adobe ImageReady). Not sure if PS ever got it.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to achieve but you could use the rectangular marquee tool to selct an area. Then Ctrl+J will duplicate that area onto a new layer. You could create a new layer for each of the nine areas in this way.

If you wanted to, you could drag and drop each in turn onto a new canvas for individual printing.

But I'm gusessing as to whether this would help or not.

Hehe I found what i need to do

- In Photoshop or ImageReady, activate the Slice Select tool
- Right-click (on Mac, ctrl-click) on the document and choose "Divide Slice"
- Divide image into 3 parts horizontally and vertically (makes 9 slices)

How to save the created fragments:
- Open "Save for Web" dialog and export all the slices to JPEG or PNG-24 format
Or handle each slice individually:
- Select with the Slice Select tool
- Copy
- Create new document
- Paste
- Flatten image
- Save

and it work's

I'll give it a blast
