How Often

I have never had a camera serviced, never really used excessively in extreme conditions, i.e. dusty and windy environments. I have cleaned the sensor myself using an arctic blower. I wouldn't think the average amateur tog would pay for a service, for professional kit it's another matter.

I am a professional, and I don't bother. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If it is broke, get it repaired under warrenty or replace it.I have never had a camera serviced, never really used excessively in extreme conditions, i.e. dusty and windy environments. in the LX days cameras were like fine Swiss watches... worth repairing, and sometimes needing servicing. These days, they are Timex's almost reaching the point where it will be cheaper to buy another camera than to replace the damn battery... well we're not there...yet... but that seems like where camera values are going...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I think people are more likely to have there lenses serviced more than the camera.

Had my K20D 3 plus years 8000 actuations never serviced, It's had a Rocket Blower used on it a couple of times and the focusing screen out for a clean after I got a creature in it shooting wildlife in Wales.
Also have a K10D and istD never serviced. My old Pentax MX is still going strong after 32 years but could do with the seals replacing, I doubt the K20D will last 32 years

I have only had cameras reapired, never routinely serviced.
The one exception was a very fine Voigtlander Bessamatic that was cosmetically so superb that it deserved a full overhaul and it got one. Now that was superb engineering, very over-engineered in the way that the Germans do best.
I have had one MX repaired, one MV repaired twice and one K10D repaired.
