@John. Of course it matters that the source image for editing was originally RAW and not the pre-cooked JPG.

I guess one could gallery it and then link to that. I think the gallery allows larger resolutions. I must say I did a double take when I saw the reduction scaling on my original post. I deleted it and re posted a minute later but found the same final size. Does rather take the grandeur out of this blockbuster movie

Here's my attempt in FastStone
Straighten it, reduce the highlights a bit to improve the sky, add a tiny bit of red, remove a tiny bit of blue to warm it up and finally, a very small amount of unsharp mask

Edited using PaintShop Pro X6. Straightened, then cropped to remove buildings left and right, a bit of sky and a lot of water. Desaturated the bright red under the bridge. Trial and error with adjustments to levels, etc., until it looked better to me:

Never thought of desaturating under the bridge, that red reflection was annoying me. Good call.

A couple more versions, both done in Photomatix before finishing in Photoshop.
The starting point for these were the presets "Creative" and "Mono 2" - if one of the presets is close to what I have in mind then I'm quite happy to make use of it.

A mono of my earlier colour version - converted using a yellow filter and enhanced for contrast plus a gentle vignette, all in PSP X6:

Some great examples of the different processes we use, they are all fairly varied in how the finished product has turned out with some very good results. It has certainly given me some ideas for adding varying my editing techniques.
Would anyone like to post something else, a different type, style, portrait, whatever.

My version Derek, a little walk through Lightroom... and voila!
Cropped (2:1), adjusted highlights/shadows, tinted, grad filters to sky and water, adjustment brush in various areas... I even switched the lights on...
Interesting to see the many different interpretations of the same image.

Wow! so many of these have been left wonky, even after 'straightening'
And what's with all the dark sky and light rivers? When did physics suddenly allow this?
