Hotshoe problem

Please forgive me if this question has already been asked but could anyone tell me what is the best thing to do in this situation.
I have owned the Pentax *istD from new and have found it very reliable and I use if for my portraiture business. I couldn't wait for the K10 to come out and bought it straight away. There are a good few differences between the *istD and the K10 but there is one that is really annoying me. Why didn't Pentax put a PC sync on the K10? Ok a lot of other camera makes haven't got them but I would have thought that if they had it on the *istD they would have put it on the K10.
Ok so here is the problem, I have a Radio Trigger for the *istD, the Transmitter fits on the camera and the sync cord goes into the camera. The Receiver fits into 1 flash head and the other is triggered by the infra red cell. The transmitter is powered off the hot shoe by a single pin and as the sync lead only communicates with the camera there is no or hardly any current being transferred.

Now if I wanted to use a trigger for the K10, would a normal hot shoe adaptor be suffice as there is no actual current going through the camera from the transmitter, the PC cable would then plug into the hot shoe adaptor. These adaptors cost about £6. Obviously I don't want to fry the camera but I also don't want to buy anything that is unnecessary.
I know I could use an infra red trigger but there is a very slight delay, (imagine using your tv controller to flick between channels, it doesn't happen instantaneously).
Pentax sell adaptors for roughly £28, there is also the Wein Safe-Sync for £45 but these are used if you want to put the sync lead straight into the camera.
Has anyone come across this before?

Surely the radio trigger will work off the hot shoe?

Every wireless trigger, and infra-red trigger I've ever seen works off the hot shoe, mine also have pc cables, but since these are relatively modern devices I cant imagine any manufacturer making cable only ones and the camera doesn't 'communicate' via the sync cable. There is no delay with infra-red, this doesn't work like a tv remote, instead it is actually a flash gun with an IR filter.

I suggest the Pocket Wizards to trigger the flash. Much less dangerous than a tangle of cords all over the floor!

Ok maybe I am being really stupid here and haven't twigged this but are you saying that the transmitter doesn't have to be plugged into the cameras pc sync? Does it just slot onto the hotshoe?
This goes against what I was told by the company I bought it from. If this is the case then I don't have to buy a hotshoe adaptor!

Well I have learnt 2 things today.

1 That the transmitter does not have to have the cord plugged into the PC socket

2 The shop I bought the trigger from was either telling porky pies or doesn't have a clue on what it is selling.

So thank you guys for helping me and teaching me something about a piece of kit that I have been using for a long time!!!

The moral of this story? If the sales clerks were experts, they wouldn't still be sales clerks.

If I buy a new piece of equipment, I test it very thoroughly, with every other piece equipment I own (ie new lens or flash with every camera body), using every feature listed in the manual, and any "Other" use I might put it to.

Reason: if somethings gonna fry, I want it to fry, and be returning it within a couple hours. No arguments if it happens immediatly.

Sometimes you find features or uses that aren't listed in the manual...
