Holiday Pics Menjorca 09

Hey all well ime back from my Outing to spain and after my first trip abroad ive upladed a few pics to show you all and hopefully get some info from lol.
So here we go...

Firstly can anyone identify this rather evil looking spider?

Also could do with this rather ugly cricket type thing ID'ing.
These were all over the island making a hell of a noise all the time but I never actually saw one untill I quickly cornered it outside my apartment Took handheld with my 70-300 (not macro) rather quickly.

This lizard was taken on the wall of the Fort bellow. Taken with my manual pentax 135mm. Heavily cropped and Some cloneing done any input on how well ive cloned it apreciated (there was some very distracting leaves and such by his back leg)

I took this while watching a very impressive horse display. Only trouble was it was very dark so getting a good shot of dark horse/rider in the dark was to hard for me so I experimented with shutter times and liked the effect I got off this one.

Again taken later the same night as above I found This lil cutey stuck to my apartment roof! I think It would of come out beter but I didnt realise I was set to spot metering mode

I dont know what this was but I found it on the bus station wall in mahon and kinda liked it for some funny reason.

Some good shots but those horizons! Can you straighten them please?

Also the fort photos look a little washed out. Maybe you could warm them up a bit?

As for the fort, Its prob because of the bright sun but ile see what i can do thanks

The last two pictures - as far as I recall the Med doesn't slope to the left .

You need to calibrate your monitor. All these are over-exposed.

Not over exposed George. Non of them is. But they all lack contrast and clarity. Nothing a mild mid tone adjustment in levels can't fix.

Pictures look OK here, slightly bright, but it probably was that bright. The horizons are curved, but don't need tilting, possibly caused a wide angle lens that's distorting slightly.

I like the shot through the window.

Which is more or less the same thing. Changing contrast is a matter of adjusting effective exposure, but if you meant that it was the post-processing rather than the camera at fault, then I would agree. And I suspect that the OP didn't notice because his monitor needs adjusting.

Yep...They are to a certain extend perfectly exposed to the right.
Intentional or by mistake ..... And a calibrated monitor should help, indeed.

Looks like ive been missing all the action LOL

I must admit I was thinking about monitor calibration, Can anyone recomend and free software that would help me achive this?

And Martin what do you mean they are perfectly exposed to the right??
And ive really got to get to grips with the midtones thing, Ure version of my pic looks so much warmer!

You really need hardware to profile your computer.

I use a Pantone Huey, which seems to suit my purposes quite well.

Thanks Peter I may scout round ebay for one sometime unless anyone else has any suggestions?

I have just downloaded and run a monitor calibration wizzard from hex2bit I dont know if anyone has had much experience with it, I can see a hell of a difference in it. Wether it is for the beter is yet to be seen
