Hi wotsit !
Everyone has to start somewhere and this forum is full of helpful and useful advice if you want it.
It's always a bit daunting posting your first photo - but it's such a good way to learn!
You'll have a lot of fun with the K-r

Hi wotsit
Don't be worried about posting any questions, you just get answers and help when you need it.
Everybody started at sometime. The wonderful thing about this forum is that nobody minds if you ask questions and they are only too happy to help. We all start somewhere and this it a very good place to pick brains and learn from others experience.
Don't be afraid to post and have a good look around.

Thanks everybody. Maybe it's a silly time of year to buy a new camera cos by the time I get home from work it's dark. But I thought I could try and learn a bit about it now, and then be ready for next spring.
The K-R is really complicated after my little compact - a Casio Exilim passed down to me from my mum!
If I should ask what appears to be a stupid question, please tolerate me......lol.

Hi Dave, thanks for the welcome.
I think it will have to wait til the weekend.
The K-R seems enormous in comparison to my little Casio. I suppose I'll get used to it.

Welcome Stacey. I just admit that for some time now I've fancied one of those bright red Pentax cameras. It would be great to turn up at one of the Goths meets in Whitby with it. It would stand out in a sea of SLRs of various makes and would no doubt attract the most fashionable Goths to pose for me.

Hi Wotsit, Welcome. I'm sure you will learn a lot- I know I have. As yellow is your fave colour i imagine your use of emoticons will be excessive!
Perhaps your first pics should be on the theme "yellow".
look forward to seeing them

It's such a cool colour but of course I didn't buy the camera just cos of its colour.........no, really I didn't, even though yellow is my fave colour!
Soo, why did I want a Pentax? That's easy to answer. My dad, who died when I was young, had a Pentax SLR and lots and lots of lenses. I do have a faint memory of him taking an extreme close-up of a dwarf Sweet William flower with what I now know was a bellows unit. Maybe photography is in my genes?
Anyway, I hope you'll be lenient with me when I post something that's not quite right. I do want to learn.
