Help with K110D and AF360FGZ

Hello,

The K110D is my first digital camera, and the flash unit I chose is the AF360GZ.

I’m having a lot of difficulty interpreting the instructions in the AF360GZ manual, which constantly makes references such as “P-TTL Auto flash mode is set automatically with *ist, MZ-S or MZ-LMZ-6/ZX-L.” I have no idea what the text is referring to. A chapter beginning on page 22 of the manual is titled “P-TTL Auto Flash (With *ist, MZ-S, MZ-:/MZ-6ZX-L).

The K110 manual recommends the AF360GZ flash, but offers no instructions on using a flash unit. And the operating manual for the AF360GZ makes no mention of the K110D as a compatible camera. So I’m stressing out trying to learn how the two units work together.

Page 51of the K110D Operating Manual mentions the four available flash modes, but offers no instructions on which mode to select when using a flash accessory like the AF360GZ.

Can anyone help me understand the relationship between the AF360GZ and the K110D?

Thanks,

Dan

The manual is referring to Pentax cameras which have now been discontinued. You must remember that this flashgun predates current Pentax cameras by some years.

When mounted (and switched on), the flashgun will offer workable choices. It's quite intelligent.

Pretend your camera is an MZ-S, and use the flashgun accordingly. If there are things that the MZ-S will do, and the K110D won't, the flashgun won't offer that choice, and the K110D manual won't mention them.
