Help with adaptall mount - won't fit K-r

Hello Ken, your problem could be that the diaphragm operating lever is jammed in the wrong position and comes up against the lever that moves it in the camera body. If the mount has been correctly installed on the lens and you set the aperture ring to the smallest aperture you should see the diaphragm blades at their maximum closed position. Light pressure with your finger tip on the lever should then spring the blades to their fully open position. (The position they should be in after the lens is mounted on the camera).
There are two Adaptall mounts, the original version and the Adaptall 2. Mine are all Adaptall 2. They have two keys for location into recesses in the side of the lens. Yours appears to have only one key therefore I think it must be the original version.
The procedure for mounting an Adaptall 2 to the lens is:
1) Align the green dots on mount and lens
2) Push the mount and lens together
3) Rotate the mount clockwise (as viewed from the back) until the chrome locking lever on the lens pops out
4) Slide the keys into their recesses.
As your mount is a KM version (no electrical contacts) you will have to use the lens in Hyper-manual Mode, set 'using aperture ring to permitted' in Custom Setting and stop down to meter.
Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Having looked carefully at the mount one of the flanges was slightly bent. I eased it up and now all is well. Thanks for your help.
I've a long way to go with the lens. Its a bit of a beast Tamron 200-500mm, learn to focus again!

You're welcome cbrog.
Ironically Ken, I was considering buying one of those lenses on offer for £250 on ebay but the price seemed to high. Photographing birds on my feeder was exactly what I had in mind for it. While I was trying to make up my mind it was taken.

Wasn't me Richard. Mine was a lot less but its the Z-500 not the more expensive 31A. Its a big boy but fine on a tripod out of the window.

Recently bought my K-r and thought I'd try the backwards compatibility so bought an adaptall lens. Unfortunately I can't get the mount to engage in the camera body sufficient to engage the locking pin. It seems to go round about half way and stop. I was worried about applying much force until I had some advice. Can anyone help?
Links to pictures of the mount below. Not sure how to put images in the post directly.
