Thanks all for your input and comments. The comments about a needed camera upgrade werent expected and as much as I love my Pentax and the way it handles I wonder if that would be my choice today. I would ideally want to see more commitment from Ricoh as I don't see the same interesting development easy elsewhere which is a shame as they were definitely doing something special but that feels rather past tense at the moment.

I think that's a little harsh. If the last camera Pentax users purchased was a K20 I doubt Ricoh would be bothered introducing anything new by now. The division would be bust! It's no good complaining they don't introduce new stuff and them blame them for not doing so (even though they certainly have as the suggestions above contest.)
However at the end of the day they were just suggestions to take or leave, no one's forcing you to buy a new camera or anything. If you're content with the K20D so be it, you won't be alone. Have you decided as to which new wide angle lens to go for?

That's true John, I don't think any camera company could rely on me or those similar to me, I am not enough of a gear geek! A second hand k5 could be an option and I hadn't thought of that til your post. I like the idea of the prime and "that special something" but not 100% sure I will get that noticeably over and above the zoom. I hear the comments on the zoom sharpness which will probably be my option, that plus the versatility.

Thanks John for your comments. And to everyone else.
