I'm trying to link to an image, but it's not working. What am I doing wrong?

George,
You're trying to be too clever and write HTML code
Use the following:

"[" img "]" full-url "[" /img "]"

Hope that helps.

I've cracked it now. Isn't it irritating when life is simpler than you thought it was?

Though I still don't know what was wrong with my code.

Hi George,

nothing wrong with the code perse, that you used; but as Matt said, you used HTML. If you look at the options panel on the reply form, you'll see that HTML is switched off, but that BB is switched on.

BBCode is the default coding for use with these boards.. click on the link there and you'll get an FAQ on what you can do with it. Some of the formatting is slightly different to what I'm used to at other forums, such as..

Pentax Forum

..doesn't work, whereas..

Pentax Forum

does. Some forums use the " " to enclose the URL, but we don't use them here.

Cheers

Liam

Thanks for the explanation, Liam. I'd never taken on board what BB was before.

Do I assume that if I want to post a piccy here, it has to be on a web-host page, and can't be up-loaded (as eg on ePz)?

Correct. I've managed to hot-link to other sites where I have images, but it doesn't always work. Seems to depend on the site.

Why can't they make it as easy as ePHOTOzine with the little 'browse' box thing as I can understand that but still cannot understand how to upload on Pentax User so all my loverly Pentax Pics cannot be seen!

To be fair, EPZ is intended for uploading pictures, but forums like this one are intended mainly for conversation. The posting of pictures here is probably a secondary thing.

If it's any consolation, I don't find it easy to do either, but usually because the hosting web sites seem to block the htlinking attempt.

I have you listed on my "Favourites" page for EPZ, so I do see your latest pictures every day.
Best regards, John
