Buying eight chargers gets a little expensive, i bought seven from ebay for around £8, why do i have eight chargers? To charge up all my batteries quickly for a weekend of shooting festivals. One can never have enough batteries. As for cheap or not, i find the cheap ones may not physically last long but charge wise they are nearly the same as originals. You buy a camera for hundreds of pounds and then scrimp on batteries and buy cheap chargers? Some may say buy cheap buy twice, if buying twice is still cheaper than the expensive original i am all for it

Why is it people get backs up when others buy cheap batteries. Surely its up to them how the power their cameras and other equipment.
When a car battery packs up probably more than 90% would go their motor factors for a non standard battery. Lots run cars on supermarket fuel because its cheaper, others use Aldi and Lidl for cheap food. Depends on your pocket.
Most of the people saying that the cheap batteries are no good have not actually tried them but have tried Hama batteries, Why? Surely they should have spent £60 on a Genuine Pentax one. Also in their lists of lenses you see Sigma, Helios and other cheaper than Pentax lens. Surely all they should use are DA* lens.

By the way Q carrot this was your post, so best of luck in getting a Quick replacement for your charger.

Some do, Patty. The Pentax originals are better made and perform better. It may or may not be significant to any individual, but how we work is an individual choice.

John, I CAN see a reason for using Genuine batteries, and as you say an Individual Choice, but when I bought my K5 it fairly cleaned me out so at the time I figured that £5 was worth a chuck to at least have a usable camera while charging the Pentax battery.
They work fine, with equal if not better performance, so I haven't seen the need to spend on spare Genuine batteries.
In my Kx I have given up with rechargables as it sits there in the bag only getting used occasionally. I just keep lithiums in, as originally supplied. My Tesco right now has them at £5 for 4 on offer so 2 packs will probably last a year.
Anyways I'm trying to let QC get to his new charger!

I would never use a third party in a new or fairly new camera - if it leaks then there will be no claim on Pentax and the battery supplier liability will be limited to the cost of the battery.
However, I do use one in the Grip.

The Pentax one is £44.99 at SRS. I'd buy that by choice, are you sure you'll be happy with one of these cheaper chargers?
Best regards, John
