That's where Im heading shortly - and with the 50-200 on today I think .

Just waiting for the rain to stop over here .

Managed a short chat with him as I was leaving last night and feel rather better as a result .

Found out his real aim of the class - to get us out using our cameras - that's no problem for me

Angela Just found some sites that might interest you, it's written by another camera brand though but that doesn't matter.
It are the tips on this site link
A lot of photos and animation that makes things quite clear, I really like it when they do that.
Hopefully they are of use to you.

Thanks Stefan - will enjoy exploring that Site.

This weeks challenge has indeed been a challenge - I've 2 shots for him - not the ones that I wanted to get - but they show movement and they'll just have to do.

Why is it when you want to see folk DOING something like jogging - there's no-one out ?

Yep I know Sony
It does however make things very clear with pictures, you can even play with and focal length and aperture to see the effect on the DOF.

Angela, good luck with the course, do you know what the objective will be for next week?

Stefan - not a clue

Last week was supposed to be on White Balance and ISO and instead we were doing 'non destructive editing ' [ his words ] using Bridge .

I think he has his ideas for the whole series of classes , but in fact works very much from week to week.

I'm certainly much happier now using both Av and Tv and only switching to fully automatic when I get this feeling that I'm not going to get a chance to set things up properly [ if you see what I mean ]

Unfortunately both pics I've got to take in on Monday were done on Sports Setting - it's just the way things worked out - but they do show movement - and a bit of humour

Great to hear you're more comfortable using Tv and Av, Av is the mode most users use here and you should be able to do most things with it.

Sport setting just mean fast shutterspeed most of the time, sometimes it's better to use a longer shutterspeed to get the feel of movement in your photo.
Look at the girl on the bike that's what I mean. link

I'm thoroughly enjoying this thread and also learning. After all this discussion do you think Angela's qualifying certificate will read.

You bet your life it will

I'm honest - I told him I was floored by the first challenge and had to get help to understand what I was to do .

This is getting more and more interesting

Half the class was on looking at last week's action/movement pics and then we went for a walk round the new Main Building of the College - idea being to get us looking at composition - great fun staircases , curved walls all sorts of interesting bits and pieces , I even managed to get the reflection of some of the class on various curved walkways , in the curved glass wall at the main entrance.

Homework - to find an interesting building / or Park and do the same again .

Hmm - looked out of the window - white stuff coming down and by the look of the sky there's more up there than I want . Think today will be in the house
