Help - Adaptall-2 Stuck on Kr

Does anyone have experience of a Tamron adaptall-2 lens stuck on a Pentax Kr?

Put on the Tamron lens (with adaptall already mounted correctly on lens). Everything worked fine. Took a few photos, took it off no problem.
Tried adding a Tamron adaptall extension tube between the lens and the adaptall. All seemed to connect correctly. Connected it to Kr and seemed ok until I took a photo then Kr stopped working!

Every control or button I press on Kr now just lifts up the mirror then drops it again and nothing else.
Now can't remove the lens from the camera. It seems to be jammed, as it will only rotate a few millimetres when the lens release catch is pressed.

I can separate the adaptall from the lens but not the adaptall from the camera.

Tried all possible combinations (except brute force) with no luck.
Is it something like the iris level trapped somehow, this might explain why the Kr is only activating the mirror.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Kr is only a few months old. Is it time for its first repair?

If the K-r has been damaged by a third party accessory (Tamron in this case)then the warranty may not apply. I wouldn't use brute force either and it may be it will need the attention of a repair house.

Don't foget that being a PU PLus member gives you access to 20% discount on Pentax repairs at the authorised repairer JPSS. A form can be downloaded from this site but you would need to subscribe to see it. Just maybe JPSS would honour the guarantee, depending on what's wrong, but I think that would be a goodwill gesture if the adapter has caused the problem.

I have a K mount to the M42 thread adaptor, when you fit this to the camera, a small spring clips down to lock it into position. To remove it requires a small pointed tool to lift this spring clip before being able to remove the adaptor. (The small tool can be the end of a ball point pen).

Maybe the Tamron adaptor has a similar spring clip. :

Not sure whether it applies in this instance, (M42 only?), but this isn't a 'Ricoh pin' problem is it?

Track down and visit your local old school camera shop. With a bit of luck the gaffer will be able to release the mount with miraculous ease, possibly with some obscure looking tool, while you repay him by buying up as many lenses and accessories as you need/ can afford

Is it a Pentax K,Ka or Ricoh adaptor?

I was thinking it may be a Ricoh type problem. The adaptor said "PKA", no mention of Ricoh though.

Good news

I managed to un-stick the adaptor!

With just the adaptor on the body, looking down into the camera there's a large tab on the surface of the adapter ring.
I pressed the tab on the ring of the adaptor downwards towards the camera lens mount and pressed the camera's len release button at the same time and was able to rotate the adaptor and take it off normally.

I'm sure I'd tried this yesterday without any luck. Think I needed to have pressed it down further and having three hands would have helped. Obvious really, it was the only other thing to press, and the biggest

Camera's working fine and other lenses working well with it, phew!
Now, dare I put it back on again?

I've taken a picture here link to explain it better. You can see the tab is part of a lever connected to some mechanics inside the adaptor.

Thought I'd let you know in case anyone else has a similar issue.

Try pressing the lens release button a little more firmly than normal i got an adaptall stuck on my k r and thats what i did to release it.
